"Rhythm and Musical expression are Healing forces, teaching us how to re-communicate with nature"
The beginning journey..
Since 1988, Asafo Gyata has directed 'healing through rhythm' workshops for young people and adults of all ages. For the first eight years he also performed as a musician with two music groups, Ruff Ruff and Ready and Co-Creators, who both enjoyed equal levels of record company success, touring extensively throughout the UK and Europe, and playing at prestigious venues and festivals such as the 'Town and Country Club', 'the Marquee' Glastonbury, Womad, and Gent, Belgium. In addition to performing, the groups also ran workshops in schools, prisons, hospitals and community centres.
A culmination of experiences...
These experiences gave Asafo the impetus to focus his work with the community, and in 1996, after working and traveling in South Africa, Asafo formed the Amanzi Healing Foundation, with a vision of creating a global curriculum that would harness the creative powers of music and rhythm, empowering individuals and bringing together communities from all around the world.
